Another good tree for wildlife, timber, or shade. Needs a little better site with more moisture, and grows best in full sun in moist deep acidic soils. Moderate growth maturing at 50'-75' tall, and 40'-70' spread. Good shade tree! Root system allows it to grow well in areas that are flooded in spring but markedly dry in summer. Trees provide cover for birds and mammals, and the acorns are sweet and are an important wildlife food for squirrels, mice, deer, beaver, black bear, and a variety of birds including ducks and turkey. 12"-18" B-R seedlings.

***Favored to adapt well to climate change***
