The Conservation District is offering scholarships to the Michigan DNR Academy of Natural Resources teacher trainings. For a scholarship application, click here. To sign up for the trainings, click here. The Conservation District scholarships are in addition to the $100 scholarship offered on the DNR website.
Scholarships for High School Students to attend camp
High school students interested in pursuing careers in natural resources have two opportunities to attend career camps to learn more this summer. Deadlines are coming up soon, click the links below to learn more and apply to the camp. Students who are accepted into a camp program should contact the Conservation District at 906-341-8215 to learn about scholarship opportunities.
Students who apply to either of the camps should contact the SCD office by phone (341-8215) or email (SchoolcraftCD@macd,org) to be put on a list to be considered for a camp scholarship.
Scholarships for Continuing Education
Two $500 scholarships are being offered by the Schoolcraft Conservation District (SCD) for students who will pursue a Technical Certificate, an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field in the fall of 2020.
Applications will be accepted from seniors who reside in Schoolcraft County and attend Manistique High School, Jack Reque Alternative School, or Big Bay de Noc School. Students who reside in Schoolcraft County but attend a different school are also eligible to apply.
Applications must be postmarked by March 16 or turned into the MHS, Jack Reque, or Big Bay de Noc school offices by that date. Winners will be announced late April. Applications are available through the above school offices, and online here, or by contacting the SCD office at 341-8215.
